My Background

I grew up in State College, Pennsylvania and began my violin studies at age 5. Throughout my early musical education, I found myself playing chamber music and orchestral repertoire quite frequently. I played with local groups as well as ensembles out of town including The Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra.  I'm currently a masters student at the San Francisco Conservatory studying classical performance under Ian Swensen. I did my undergraduate studies in music performance at the University of Maryland under David Salness.

Classical

I am actively performing with a pianist around San Francisco. We work together to create small chamber ensembles and schedule recitals and performances locally and nationally. Starting this fall, I will begin my second season as principle second of The San Jose Chamber Orchestra.
This past summer, I co founded the Trinity Alps Chamber Music Festival (trinityalps.cmf.org); the aim of which is to bring high quality chamber music to northern California communities who otherwise would not have access.
After the festival, I was invited as faculty to The Luzerne Music Center in upstate New York (Luzernemusic.org). For two months, I taught and performed alongside internationally recognized musicians and was blessed to be loaned a 1732 Stradivarius violin.
I also play with a new innovative group called The Magik Magik Orchestra.  With Magik Magik I've performed with Sting, David Grissman, Chicago, the late Clarence Clemens and recorded with Third Eye Blind, Death Cab for Cutie and others. In collaboration with Death Cab, we recently performed on VH1 storytellers.

Outside Of The Symphony Hall

Although most of my time is spent studying and performing with classical ensembles, I can often be found playing bluegrass at the Fillmore, Great American Music Hall, or a corner bar in San Francisco with The Brothers Comatose. Lately, I have been involved recording and touring with The Shams Ensemble http://www.shamsensemble.com, a tradition Iranian folk group.
